Duotrav Eye Drop (2.5ml)
A high-efficacy combination antiglaucoma eye drop pairing a prostaglandin analogue with a beta-blocker to control eye pressure.
Duotrav is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution that delivers a highly potent, multi-pathway reduction of intraocular pressure. The active ingredients operate via complementary actions: Travoprost is a synthetic prostaglandin F2-alpha analogue that functions as a highly selective agonist at FP prostanoid receptors, enhancing aqueous humor drainage by significantly increasing uveoscleral outflow. Concurrently, Timolol Maleate operates as a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor blocker that targets the ciliary process to reduce cyclic AMP levels, directly suppressing the baseline rate of aqueous humor secretion.
Purpose
Indicated for the reduction of intraocular pressure in adult patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who show an insufficient response to topical beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues.
Ingredients
Travoprost + Timolol Maleate
Warnings
Timolol undergoes systemic absorption and can cause severe cardiovascular and respiratory effects; strictly contraindicated in patients with bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sinus bradycardia, second- or third-degree AV block, or overt cardiac failure. Travoprost can cause permanent changes to eye color by increasing the amount of brown pigment in the iris, and may induce gradual hypertrichosis (increased length and thickness) of the eyelashes. Remove contact lenses prior to application and wait 15 minutes before reinsertion.
Side Effects
Ocular hyperemia (eye redness), mild eye irritation, temporary blurred vision, itching of the eyes, dark pigmentation of the iris, or eyelash growth.
Storage Instructions
Store between 2°C and 25°C (36°F to 77°F). Protect completely from light and direct heat. Discard the bottle 4 weeks after the initial opening. Keep out of reach of children.
