Ophth Atropine Eye Drops are a sterile antimuscarinic ophthalmic solution designed to induce prolonged pupillary dilation and relax the ciliary muscles of the eye. It works by blocking acetylcholine responses at receptor sites, serving as a powerful cycloplegic and mydriatic agent during clinical ophthalmic examinations or specialized inflammatory uveitis treatments.

Purpose

Paralyzes the ciliary muscle and dilates the pupil to facilitate eye refractions and manage uveitis.

Warnings

Strictly contraindicated in individuals diagnosed with closed-angle glaucoma or a shallow anterior chamber. Wash your hands immediately after use and ensure children do not accidentally ingest the solution as it can cause severe systemic toxicity. Avoid driving or operating machinery because your vision will remain blurred and highly sensitive to light for several days. Discontinue use if signs of systemic anticholinergic poisoning occur, such as a dry mouth, rapid pulse, or flushing.

Side Effects

Transient stinging or localized burning upon instillation. Prolonged blurred vision and extreme photophobia. Increased intraocular pressure. Systemic effects including dry mouth, flushing, or rapid heart rate in pediatric patients.
