Bexovate N Cream (15g)
A topical combination cream containing a potent corticosteroid (betamethasone) and an antibiotic (neomycin) for infected inflammatory dermatoses.
Bexovate N Cream (15g) is a topical combination dermatological therapy containing betamethasone valerate and neomycin sulfate, utilized for inflammatory skin conditions complicated by bacterial infection. It operates via dual mechanisms: betamethasone, a potent corticosteroid, binds to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors to suppress the release of inflammatory cytokines, rapidly reducing local erythema, swelling, and pruritus. Simultaneously, neomycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic, binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis and eradicating secondary superficial infections.
Purpose
To treat corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses that are complicated by secondary bacterial infections, such as infected eczema or severe dermatitis.
Ingredients
Betamethasone Valerate 0.1%, Neomycin Sulfate 0.5%
Warnings
For external topical use only; strictly avoid application in the eyes, mouth, or auditory canal, especially if the eardrum is perforated. Do not apply under occlusive dressings or over large surface areas for extended periods to prevent systemic absorption and adrenal suppression. Limit continuous treatment to short durations (typically up to 7-14 days) to minimize the risk of localized skin thinning or atrophy. Discontinue therapy and consult a physician if the skin infection worsens or if generalized allergic reactions develop.
Side Effects
Localized dermatological reactions including transient burning, stinging, itching, or redness at the immediate site of application. Risks associated with prolonged corticosteroid use, including skin atrophy, striae, telangiectasia, or delayed wound healing. Potential localized hypersensitivity or contact dermatitis, often linked to the neomycin component in susceptible individuals. Rare systemic effects such as reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression if used extensively over thin skin.
Storage Instructions
Store below 30°C in a dry environment, do not freeze, protect from direct heat, and ensure the tube is capped tightly.
