Bruspaz 4mg (20 Tablet / Pack) is a specialized, dual-action fixed-dose combination therapy containing Thiocolchicoside (a semi-synthetic sulfur derivative of colchicoside) and Diclofenac. Engineered to treat acute, painful musculoskeletal spasms, the Thiocolchicoside component acts centrally as a selective $GABA_A$ and glycine receptor antagonist to relieve muscle stiffness, while Diclofenac acts peripherally by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes to stop the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins.

Purpose

Intersects central inhibitory nerve pathways to relax stiff muscles while blocking peripheral prostaglandin synthesis to eliminate localized pain and swelling.

Ingredients

Thiocolchicoside 4mg, Diclofenac (as Potassium or Sodium) 50mg

Warnings

Must be taken strictly with or immediately following a full meal to minimize the risk of gastrointestinal irritation, acidity, or gastric bleeding. Completely contraindicated in individuals with active stomach ulcers, advanced renal or hepatic failure, or known hypersensitivity to aspirin/NSAIDs. Avoid using in patients with a history of epilepsy or active convulsions, as thiocolchicoside can lower the seizure threshold in vulnerable individuals. Strictly contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as metabolic byproducts of thiocolchicoside can pose potential cellular risks to an unborn child.

Side Effects

Gastrointestinal upset including nausea, mild diarrhea, indigestion, or low-grade abdominal pain. Transient dizziness, headache, or mild drowsiness that can impair quick motor reflexes. Potential for localized skin rashes, itching, or transient hives in sensitive patients. Harmless, minor elevations in liver enzymes or mild fluid retention with prolonged use.
