Ciplet is an oral broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic tablet engineered to eradicate systemic bacterial infections. The active pharmaceutical ingredient, Ciprofloxacin, penetrates bacterial cellular membranes to selectively inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV enzymes. These enzymes are critical for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and chromosomal supercoiling. By binding to these complexes, it causes lethal double-stranded DNA breaks, completely disrupting DNA synthesis and leading to the rapid eradication of the susceptible bacterial colony.

Purpose

Indicated for the treatment of moderate bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, chronic prostatitis, respiratory tract infections, bone and joint infections, and infectious diarrhea.

Warnings

Fluoroquinolones carry an increased risk of severe disabling side effects including tendonitis, tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, and central nervous system effects (such as seizures or confusion); discontinue treatment immediately at the first sign of tendon pain or neurological symptoms. Avoid in patients with a history of myasthenia gravis. May cause dangerous QT interval prolongation; use with caution in patients with pre-existing cardiac conditions. Do not take within 2 hours of dairy products, calcium-fortified juices, or antacids containing magnesium/aluminum, as they drastically lower drug absorption.
