A broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic liquid used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections in a higher strength.
Ciplet is an oral broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibacterial suspension formulated to eliminate susceptible pathogenic microorganisms at a higher concentration. The active pharmaceutical ingredient, Ciprofloxacin, penetrates bacterial cells to selectively and irreversibly inhibit DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV. These enzymes are vital for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and supercoiling. By trapping the enzyme-DNA complexes, Ciprofloxacin causes widespread double-stranded DNA breaks, halting bacterial synthesis pathways and driving rapid cell death.
Purpose
Indicated for the treatment of uncomplicated and complicated bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, lower respiratory tract infections, acute sinusitis, and skin infections caused by susceptible strains.

Warnings
Fluoroquinolones carry a boxed warning for an increased risk of tendonitis and tendon rupture across all age groups; discontinue immediately if muscle or tendon pain occurs. Strictly contraindicated in patients with a history of fluoroquinolone-induced tendon disorders or myasthenia gravis. May cause QT interval prolongation; avoid use in patients taking antiarrhythmic drugs or those with uncorrected hypokalemia. Avoid taking concurrently with dairy products, antacids, or iron supplements, as divalent cations severely impair ciprofloxacin absorption. Ensure adequate hydration to prevent crystalluria.
Side Effects
Nausea, diarrhea, mild abdominal pain, vomiting, temporary headache, dizziness, or a mild skin rash.
Storage Instructions
Store the reconstituted suspension below 30°C (86°F) in a dry place, or in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze. Shake well before every dose. Keep out of reach of children.
