Etory is a selective COX-2 inhibitor, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) engineered to provide potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory relief. By specifically targeting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, it inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins—lipid compounds that mediate pain, fever, and inflammation—while sparing COX-1 enzymes that maintain gastric mucosal integrity. This targeted action effectively mitigates pain and stiffness associated with arthritic conditions while reducing the gastrointestinal ulceration risk common with non-selective NSAIDs.

Purpose

Indicated for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and the relief of acute pain and gouty arthritis.

Warnings

Strictly contraindicated in patients with established ischemic heart disease, peripheral arterial disease, or cerebrovascular disease due to potential cardiovascular risks. Use with caution in patients with hypertension, as it can elevate blood pressure; monitor blood pressure regularly during therapy. Contraindicated in patients with active peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or severe hepatic and renal impairment. Avoid in the third trimester of pregnancy.
