Hapicit E 5mg (10 Tablet / Pack) contains Escitalopram, a highly selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) indicated for the management of major depressive disorders and generalized anxiety states. By specifically preventing the presynaptic reabsorption of serotonin ($5\text{-HT}$), it effectively increases extracellular serotonin concentrations in synaptic clefts to stabilize mood.

Purpose

Potentiates serotonergic pathways in the central nervous system by selectively inhibiting serotonin reuptake.

Warnings

Families and caregivers must closely monitor the patient for any sudden worsening of depression or suicidal ideation, especially early in therapy. Abrupt discontinuation must be strictly avoided; dosages must be tapered down slowly to prevent severe withdrawal syndrome. Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors or linezolid, as this can precipitate a life-threatening, acute serotonin syndrome. Exercise extreme caution if the patient has a documented history of cardiac arrhythmias or a prolonged QTc interval.

Side Effects

Initial transient nausea, dry mouth, or minor sleep disturbances (insomnia/somnolence). Increased generalized sweating, yawning, or mild fatigue during the first weeks. Temporary mild tremors, dizziness, or minor gastrointestinal changes. Potential for dose-dependent sexual dysfunction or decreased libido.
