Havocol (30 Tablet / Pack)
Havocol is a hematinic and neuro-supportive supplement used to manage nutritional anemias, peripheral neuropathies, and support fetal neural development.
Havocol is a rational combination of essential B-vitamins designed to combat megaloblastic anemia and promote neurological integrity. **Mecobalamin (Methylcobalamin)** is the neurologically active coenzyme form of Vitamin B12. It serves as an essential coenzyme for methionine synthase, an enzyme that converts homocysteine to methionine. This biochemical path is vital for the synthesis of lecithin, a primary component of the myelin sheath, thereby facilitating neural repair, axonal regeneration, and neuroprotection against apoptosis. Simultaneously, **Folic Acid (Vitamin B9)** undergoes enzymatic conversion to tetrahydrofolic acid, acting as a crucial donor of one-carbon units. This step is mandatory for purine and pyrimidine nucleotide synthesis and subsequent DNA replication. Together, they act synergistically to reverse defective erythropoiesis in bone marrow cells and alleviate peripheral neuropathies.
Purpose
It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of peripheral neuropathies (including diabetic and alcoholic neuropathy), megaloblastic and macrocytic anemias due to folate or B12 deficiencies, neuralgia, senile debility, and as a preconception/antenatal supplement to lower the risk of neural tube defects (NTDs).
Ingredients
Mecobalamin + Folic Acid
Warnings
**Masking Vitamin B12 Deficiency:** While Folic Acid can correct the hematological markers of megaloblastic anemia, it will not prevent the progression of underlying neurological damage if a primary Vitamin B12 deficiency is left unaddressed. **Hypersensitivity:** Contraindicated in individuals with a documented hypersensitivity to Mecobalamin, Folic Acid, or related cobalt-containing compounds. **Monitoring Requirements:** Periodic monitoring of complete blood counts (CBC), reticulocyte counts, and baseline serum folate/B12 levels is recommended.
Side Effects
**Gastrointestinal:** Nausea, mild abdominal cramping, vomiting, anorexia, and transient diarrhea. **Dermatological & Allergic:** Skin rash, pruritus, hives, or localized erythema. **Central Nervous System:** Mild headache, dizziness, or temporary sensory disturbances.
