Lamitor 50mg Tablets contain Lamotrigine, an antiepileptic drug belonging to the phenyltriazine class. It works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby stabilizing neuronal membranes and inhibiting the excessive release of excitatory neurotransmitters like glutamate, which effectively prevents epileptic seizures and stabilizes mood fluctuations.

Used for the treatment of partial or generalized epilepsy seizures and the maintenance of bipolar I disorder.

Warnings

Monitor closely for the development of skin rashes; discontinue immediately at the first sign of a rash as it may lead to severe conditions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

Do not stop taking this medication abruptly, as sudden withdrawal can cause a severe rebound increase in seizure frequency.

Families and caregivers should monitor patients closely for any worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual behavioral changes.

Inform your doctor immediately if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or suffering from hepatic or renal impairment.
