Louric 40mg (20 Tablet / Pack)
A xanthine oxidase inhibitor used for the chronic management of hyperuricemia and the prevention of gout.
Louric is a potent, non-purine selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor used to manage hyperuricemia. It operates by blocking the xanthine oxidase enzyme, the catalyst responsible for the metabolic conversion of hypoxanthine to xanthine and subsequently to uric acid. By reducing the overall systemic production of uric acid, it prevents the crystallization of urate in joints and tissues, thereby lowering the frequency of painful gout flares and the progression of tophaceous gout.
Purpose
Indicated for the chronic management of hyperuricemia in patients with gout who have an inadequate response or an intolerance to allopurinol.
Ingredients
Febuxostat
Warnings
Initiation of therapy may trigger acute gout flares; use of a prophylactic anti-inflammatory agent is recommended during the first few months of treatment. Periodic liver function tests are required as it may cause transient elevations in hepatic transaminases. Use with caution in patients with severe cardiovascular disease or thyroid disorders. Contraindicated in patients concurrently receiving azathioprine or mercaptopurine, as it can increase the plasma concentrations of these drugs to toxic levels.
Side Effects
Liver enzyme elevation, nausea, joint pain, rash, or dizziness.
Storage Instructions
