Mixtard Penfil (1 Injection / Pack)
Mixtard Penfil is a biphasic, dual-acting premixed human insulin suspension designed to deliver immediate postprandial and sustained basal glycemic control.
Soluble human insulin binds directly to extracellular membrane-bound insulin receptors to facilitate rapid glucose transport into skeletal muscle and adipose tissues, while concurrently suppressing hepatic gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis. The isophane (NPH) component slowly dissociates over an extended timeframe, maintaining baseline basal insulin levels and stabilizing prolonged glycemic parameters over a 24-hour cycle.
Purpose
It is indicated for the treatment of diabetes mellitus (Type 1 and Type 2) in adults and pediatric patients requiring reliable daily blood glucose regulation.
Ingredients
Soluble Insulin Human (30%) + Isophane Insulin Human (70%)
Warnings
- Do not inject this insulin formulation if you suspect the early onset of a hypoglycemic episode or if the suspension fails to appear uniformly white and cloudy after proper mixing.\n- Always rotate your injection sites within the chosen anatomical region (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm) with each dose to prevent localized lipodystrophy or hard lumps.\n- Check your blood glucose levels regularly, and carry a fast-acting carbohydrate source like glucose tablets or fruit juice at all times to correct unexpected drops.
Side Effects
- The most common and critical side effect is hypoglycemia, characterized by sudden cold sweats, a rapid heartbeat, tremors, or dizziness.\n- You may experience minor localized injection site reactions including mild pain, transient swelling, or skin redness.\n- Some patients report temporary fluid retention, localized peripheral edema, or minor weight gain upon initiating insulin therapy.
