Rast Ez 10/10mg (10 Tablet / Pack)
An oral dual-pathway lipid-lowering tablet combining rosuvastatin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) and ezetimibe (cholesterol absorption inhibitor).
Rast Ez 10/10mg (10 Tablet / Pack) is an oral fixed-dose combination lipid-modulating medication containing rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, designed for dual-pathway cholesterol management. It operates by dual inhibitory pathways: rosuvastatin selectively and competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in hepatic cholesterol synthesis, which upregulates surface LDL receptors and increases clearance of circulating LDL; meanwhile, ezetimibe localized at the brush border of the small intestine selectively inhibits the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter, blocking the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol.
Purpose
To manage primary hypercholesterolemia, reduce elevated LDL-C, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, and lower cardiovascular risk.
Ingredients
Rosuvastatin 10mg, Ezetimibe 10mg
Warnings
Schedule routine baseline liver function tests (LFTs) before starting therapy and monitor clinically throughout the treatment course. Instruct patients to report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness immediately, especially if accompanied by fever or malaise. Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, heavy alcohol consumption, or pre-existing renal insufficiency. This pharmacological therapy must be paired with a cholesterol-lowering diet, regular physical exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
Side Effects
Musculoskeletal variations including localized myalgia, minor muscle fatigue, back pain, or rare, dose-dependent rhabdomyolysis. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as mild nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, or temporary constipation. Central nervous system effects including mild tension headaches, transient dizziness, lightheadedness, or physical asthenia. Laboratory modifications such as reversible elevations in hepatic transaminases or minor increases in creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels.
