Sam Clav 62.5mg/ml Drop (20ml)
A stable pediatric co-amoxiclav oral drops suspension combining amoxicillin and clavulanic acid to treat beta-lactamase-producing bacterial infections.
Sam Clav 62.5mg/ml Drop (20ml) is a stable co-amoxiclav oral suspension combination formulated for pediatric use to treat severe bacterial infections. It works by combining a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic with a beta-lactamase inhibitor; amoxicillin disrupts bacterial cell wall synthesis while clavulanic acid irreversibly binds to and inactivates bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes that would otherwise destroy the antibiotic. This therapeutic synergy protects amoxicillin from degradation, extending its efficacy against resistant strains infecting the middle ear, respiratory tract, and soft tissues.
Purpose
To treat acute otitis media, respiratory tract infections, and skin structure infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing microorganisms in infants.
Ingredients
Amoxicillin 50mg, Clavulanic Acid 12.5mg / ml
Warnings
Reconstitute the dry powder strictly using the exact volume of cooled, boiled water provided or detailed on the packaging and shake vigorously. Store the reconstituted oral suspension in a refrigerator between 2-8°C and completely discard any remaining fluid after seven days of use. Contraindicated in infants with a confirmed history of penicillin hypersensitivity or cholestatic jaundice associated with prior co-amoxiclav administration. Complete the full course of therapy precisely as prescribed by the pediatrician to prevent the development of secondary antibiotic resistance.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal disruptions including loose stools, diarrhea, mild vomiting, or localized abdominal colic. Oral candidiasis or infant thrush presenting as white patches on the tongue and oral mucous membranes. Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions such as maculopapular skin rashes, urticaria, or localized diaper area irritation. Transient elevations in hepatic enzymes or mild, self-limiting liver irritation during the treatment course.
Storage Instructions
Before reconstitution store below 25°C in a dry place; after mixing, store in a refrigerator between 2-8°C for up to 7 days.
